Micro-Needling

Micro-needling for facial rejuvenation, acne scars and stretch marks is one of the hottest topics in aesthetic medicine today. This technique is gaining popularity as an effective treatment option for improving overall skin tone and texture.

An electric skin-needling device with very fine needles is used to break down old scar tissue and stimulate skin cells to multiply. The body responds by creating new collagen and elastin fibers–two of the key building blocks of skin. The skin plumps and thickens, reducing the appearance of scars, fine lines and wrinkles.

Micro-Needling

With micro-needling, numerous microscopic wounds are used to achieve the collagen stimulation. Because of this micro-needling can be performed on all skin types.

The Micro-Needling Procedure

Collagen induction therapy (CIT) is a series of minimally invasive microneedling treatments that uses fine, stainless steels needles in the skin to stimulate collagen rejuvenation. CIT can also be combined with PRP (plasma-rich protein) treatments, which use a specific protein rich portion of your own blood that serves as a catalyst to start cellular growth of collagen and elastin.

The procedure takes from a few minutes up to an hour to complete, depending on the area to be treated and the severity of the problem.

Surprisingly, the pain level is minimal. Before the treatment, a numbing cream is applied to minimize pain that may be felt during the procedure.

Depending on the depth of the needle treatments, recovery time may vary from two to seven days.
