Lower Blepharoplasty

Lower Blepharoplasty

Many patients develop puffiness or bags under their eyes making them look tired and sad. These patients are excellent candidates for lower blepharoplasty or eyelid rejuvenation. As with all elective procedures, experience and expertise are key in getting consistently excellent results.

Dr. Hopping has performed thousands of successful lower eyelid rejuvenations, and eyelid surgeries are one of his most common procedures.

“Lower eyelid surgery with the removal of excess fat bags and loose skin can be life-changing,” says Dr. Hopping. “I have all patients get eye exams before surgery to rule out any hidden ocular problems, and I strive for results that give my patients a youthful, smooth, natural result.” The procedure takes about 2 hours and patients return home on the day of surgery.

Recovery

The key to a successful recovery is 3 days of very limited activities, eye drops, and cold compresses. Sutures are removed in 7-10 days. Patients may begin limited physical activities after 10 days but not golf or down dog yoga for 2 weeks.

Expected Results

Again, experience and expertise are the keys to a successful outcome.

Patients can expect close post-op follow-up and results that give them back that youthful, rested appearance. Natural, non-operated results are the goal.

“Patients often comment that they look natural, no longer tired, and younger,” says Dr. Hopping. “I have personally had lower eyelid surgery and share their enthusiasm for the results. Most patients never need to have eyelid surgery again so it’s a long-term investment.”
