Upper Blepharoplasty

Many people’s upper eyelids age faster than the rest of their face giving them a sleepy, tired even angry appearance. These patients are perfect candidates for upper blepharoplasty or eyelid rejuvenation. This procedure is performed as an outpatient under local or sedation anesthesia. Surgery time is 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on complexity. Upper eyelid surgery is often combined with a brow lift or lower blepharoplasty.

Dr. Hopping has performed thousands of successful upper eye rejuvenation. “My goal with an upper blepharoplasty surgery is to achieve a natural, youthful appearance that is symmetrical and does not look over-operated,” says Dr. Hopping.

Recovery

The procedure is performed in our fully accredited surgical center. Patients return home or to their hotel immediately after recovery. Pain is usually minimal, but everyone is prescribed medication for discomfort and infection prevention. The key to a quick, uncomplicated recovery is 3 days of minimal activity and cold compresses. Eye drops are also provided. Sutures are removed 8-10 days after surgery. Most patients return to work in 7-10 days.

Expected Results

Experience and expertise are the keys to successful upper eyelid rejuvenation. Patients often comment that they look rested, natural and younger. “I love performing eyelid surgery and helping patients regain that youthful, relaxed appearance,” says Dr. Hopping. “I have personally had upper and lower eyelid surgery and share my patients’ satisfaction with this procedure.”
