Facial profile is a relationship between the nose and the chin. When the chin is recessed, the nose can look more prominent even if its size is average. When the nose is refined without addressing a weak chin, the lower face can still look short or undefined.
A chin implant adds projection to the chin bone through a small incision under the chin or inside the mouth. Rhinoplasty reshapes bone and cartilage of the nose—bridge, tip, width, or breathing structure. Combined, they are sometimes called profiloplasty: one surgery, one recovery, one plan for how the two landmarks sit against each other.
